Welcome to the U-CARE BrainPub seminar with Anna Maria Fleetwood, senior advisor at the Swedish Research Council and works with research communication.

At this seminar, Anna Maria will explain why research communication is important and how researchers and PhD students can use research communication. She will also present international trends and what the research field says about research communication. Climate change, a pandemic, information wars and defence – in the last years, researchers, research, and science have been visible in many contexts. This inquires new demands on researchers and practitioners.

Today, communication training is not a given part of third-cycle education, although several higher education institutions offer courses and coaching in communication. In a new report, the Swedish Research Council, together with a team of researchers and communication experts, present a framework in three parts for how courses in science communication can be designed. In order to share knowledge so that it benefits society, researchers need opportunities to train how to communicate. They also need time to reflect on issues relating to how best to interact with different groups, and on what strategies, methods, and techniques might be suitable to use. At the seminar, Anna Maria will present the report and what we can learn from it.

The seminar is part of the U-CARE BrainPub seminar series and open to everyone to attend. The seminar will be in English. Those who want can join for an AW after the seminar.
