A study recently published in British Journal of Haematology has examined the quality of life in mothers and fathers of children treated for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) in Sweden, Finland and Denmark. The study shows that the child's illness has a negative impact on parents quality of life.

526 parents completed a survey with questions related to different health domains. The results show that the participants reported a lower quality of life compared to the reference population, especially regarding their mental health. This difference was even more pronounced in mothers. The authors claim that this highlights the importance of assessing parental needs for individual support.
