Has worked clinically in health care
Victor is born and raised in Kenya, where he has studied clinical medicine and surgery at Kenya Medical Training College, and worked as a clinical officer. In 2015, Victor decided to move to Finland, where he studied to become a registered nurse and then studied a master's program in Public Health and Global Health at Tampere University. After he received his bachelor’s degree, he got a job as a registered nurse and later became head of department at a nursing home for elderly.

– As a nurse, I have mostly worked in geriatric care. Among other things, I have, in collaboration with physicians, been responsible for the patients’ care plans with the purpose of increasing the patients’ quality of life. I was promoted to be a supervisor before I started my current job as a project coordinator, says Victor.

Project coordinator
In the GuardiansCan project, a mobile health intervention will be developed for guardians of children in Tanzania who have been treated for cancer. Development will take place in collaboration with guardians of children who have been treated for cancer. The overall aim is to improve guardians’ adherence to the children’s follow-up care after they have been treated for cancer.

– In my role as a project coordinator, I will be the link between U-CARE's researchers and our partners in Tanzania and help ensure the smooth running of project activities. I applied for the position because I think this will be a great step in my career, but also because the project can contribute to improved health for children and their relatives. I have always said that when I leave my life on earth, I want to have contributed to making the world a better place and helping those in need, says Victor.

Likes being active
Victor says that he likes to be active, meet new people, and travel.

– I usually go out running or swimming, and I really like to play golf. I've recently started golfing so I'm not that skilled yet, but I think it's fun. Traveling is also something I enjoy doing, I have visited countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. It's always fun to learn new things and enjoy the culture.
